I’m planning to start my first roadtrip throught Europe in June this year with a self converted really low budget T4. I’ll be coming from the mainland to the british isles first I think and I’ll be sharing the whole experience on youtube and more as well 😉
Maybe you have any information for Europeans coming to the UK? (what was that about a sticker on your headlights?)

Thanks for the tips. I’d be interested to hear about protecting your items against theft in the van while abroad. Do you now take your expensive belongings with you on days out, or do you have a van safe?

Podéis subtitular los vídeos en inglés? No entiendo muy bien el idioma y necesito leer los subtítulos para entenderlo mejor.

    Gracias!

When you want did you have cover for the whole year, was it classed as full time insurance and how much was it etc, plus with three its limited to 60days at a time…Im with EE on a roaming package, unlimited calls & text which i can use in Europe to ANY UK or European number regardless where they are in Europe plus i get 64GB p/m of data which i can use 12gb p/m and every month and all for £21.99 which i think is excellent value…I can easily get by on €50 a week and eat well, lidls and local markets are great, i stay on aires or wild camp plus i don’t do no more than 20km a week, if i do then I’m going way to fast…

I”m surprised that you haven’t mentioned the changes in law that countries are about to make when it comes to roaming. Making calls and using mobile internet is about to become a whole lot cheaper thanks to the EU in june 2017 I think it was. T-Mobile already got an interesting package (€35/month for Europe) but it’s likely prices will drop even further.

    Dear Theo & Bee,
We are Gina and Arjuna (18 and 19) from the Netherlands. We have been watching your videos for quite some time. Starting this June we will embark on a vanlife roadtrip through almost literally ALL of Europe. Next week we will start converting our sprintervan and hit the road a month later. We will be vlogging and filming our experiences. It would be great to meet up some time. The preperations for our project started last October and we have been working on it ever since. Please read our blog at http://www.travelingterranauts.com (there really are some crazy stories on there. E.g. Something about an Arabian investor that enabled us to make our traveldream come true)
    Your videos helped lots!
Love Gina and Arjuna from the Netherlands

A couple of things for other people. Two better cards are Revolt (prepaid debit) and Halifax Clarity (credit), they offer better rates, infact they offer the actual bank rate with zero fees, you literally can’t get better. Also that motorhome wifi thing you have is a rebranded Ubiquiti Nanostation Loco M2. If you know what you’re doing you can set it up yourself cheaper. It’s a unidirectional antenna, so you need to know where the wifi is coming from which can be a right pain, and trying to mount it on the roof adds the problem of rotating it. For this reason you may find you’re better off sticking a non directional wifi antenna on the roof of the van – it won’t have the range but if you’re around wifi it will just work straight away. Of course having both is your best bet but like anything with campervans it’s always a trade off.

    Great ebook BTW 🙂

thanks for that! The motorhome wifi is extremely useful if you can’t get your head around making your own or don’t really want to 🙂 but good to know of alternatives. Cheers for watching and reading our ebook!

Thanks for the tips. I’m just planning our July trip over to France, my 3rd trip in the van but my girlfriend’s 1st trip. The money card idea could solve our problem with sharing money, etc. Thanks 👍
