During my trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I was wanting to check out a town close by to do some cooking and eating and learn about the culture. So after doing some research study, I discovered OBT Chiro Village in Kampong Cham, not too far away from Phnom Penh. Although by range it was quite close, due to the fact that the roadways are not wonderful, it takes about 2 hours to arrive. We reached about 8 am.

The OBT Chiro Village is sponsored by a regional Cambodian NGO that informs and empowers children in the village. And they have assisted to bring electrical power and running water to the village, that sits along the banks of the Mekong River, not far from Kampong Cham, Cambodia.

We were welcomed by our host family, and as soon as we got here, we headed over to the main Kampong Cham market to do some looking for the Cambodian food cooking we were going to do. The marketplace was great, big, however friendly, and equipped full of fresh components and lots and lots of fruit. The rates were so inexpensive also. We purchased a lot of the supplies we required.

After a totally packed tuk flight back to Chiro Town to begin cooking!

In addition to a number of different Cambodian dishes, the main dish the family cooked was Khmer curry, a mixture of spices and herbs, pounded into a paste, and cooked in addition to coconut milk and both pork and chicken. The curry was not really hot, but had a wonderful lemongrass taste, and the fresh coconut milk was wonderful.

It was a fantastic experience, and we had a remarkable time cooking, consuming, and visiting with the host family. Thank you!

Here's how much I paid:.
Rate – $22 USD per individual for cooking and consuming.
Roundtrip private taxi from Phnom Penh – $100 USD.

india has 29 states and each state has its own cuisine.
each 29 cuisins have over 1000 varities.
street food has over 50 varities in each state
indian food in foregin countires is different.
which means india has total of over 3000 food items.
which means you just enjoyed 1% of the indian food.
    SAD 🙁

I used to be one of those kids, now I live in Los Angeles. This video just reminds me of my childhood and how far I have come. Living a life that you don’t need to worry about tomorrow, having fun and amuse at every single little things. Thank you Mark for making this video. It shows me that life is not as bad as you think and don’t take things for granted.

Had to post again. I went to my local Thai Restaurant in Puyallup Washington. Bangkok Thai. While I was there, the waitress told me she had just got back from a trip to Cambodia and she brought back these cute cup holders. I mentioned that I’d just watched some podcast about the food in Cambodia and how good it look. Then I told her I watch a podcast from Thailand about food and that the person’s name was Mark — and that’s as far as I got because she said Wiens? I laughed and said you watch him too! She said yes she knew you. I would say you are getting pretty well known around the world!

Bangkok thai. The owners is Joe. That’s just the name he goes by. He told me his real name, but I am terrible trying to pronounce other languages. He had a brother that work there, but he passed away about three years ago. Joe also owns another Bangkok Thai in Enumclaw Washington, not too far from Puyallup. I’m not sure what part of Thailand he is from. I’ll have to ask him. He is an amazing cook. He has things there I haven’t had in any other Thai restaurant.
