The pubs around St Stephen’s Green are more authentic than the tourist pubs in  Temple.Bar. Gaol is pronounced ‘Jail’ not ‘goal’. The Martello Tower and museum in Sandycove which is featured in the opening pages of James Joyce’s Ulysses is worth a visit. Or maybe a visit to Dun Laoghaire and Killiney bay to get a feel of  suburban Dublin.  I would also recommend a day trip to Glendalough from Dublin via the beautiful Wicklow coastline. Or (one of my own favourite spots) a visit to the Scalp in the Dublin mountains .If it’s a fine-day maybe a visit to the Powerscourt Estate (20km south of Dublin) set in beautiful scenery with the Sugarloaf Mountain as a backdrop.

My main advise when I meet tourists is to go to Howth and do the cliffwalk. Though part of Dublin it still keeps the little fishing village character and doing the cliffwalk you won’t believe that you’re in a part of the Capital… (well hard to believe in Dublin anyway as it isn’t that big to start with. Kilmainham Gaol is defo worth a visit. Yes it empathises a bit less on the history and use prior to the Easter rising, but 1916 was a pretty important event for the country’s history.

you can’t beat Dublin and I love the city. I’m flying there on Saturday with Aer Lingus and I’m going to enjoy the trip as I always do. I’m going to the Guinness storehouse museum on Sunday and visit Bray, Malahide as with Howth during my time in the amazing city

I would NOT recommend Temple Bar. Very expensive and is just tourists. Also, I would not spend any more than 3 or 4 days in Dublin itself. I can’t remember it’s name off the top off my head, but go to the tourist office place in town and book some daytrips. I’ve been on 4 or 5 and they are very worth your while.
